Mr. and Mrs. William Runner

Mr. and Mrs. William Runner

This Scholarship is being given in loving memory of William A. Runner and Mellisa V. Runner by their son William A Runner Jr. Prior to raising eight children, William Runner Sr. attended the Southern Normal School in Bowling Green Kentucky, (now part of Western Kentucky University). Melissa Runner originally did not complete high school but both William and Mellisa stressed the importance of education to each of their children. Only after the children completed high school did they learn that their mother had not completed school; however she later enrolled and completed her high school equivalency at Glassboro State College. Education was always a priority in the Runner family and both parents conveyed the need for each of their children to receive a college degree. Each Runner child continued their education after high school and received degrees in various fields including business, education, nursing and military studies. William and Mellisa Runner resided in Woodbury, NJ and raised their family in Gloucester County, New Jersey. This scholarship is being given so they are perpetually remembered in Gloucester County and to continue their commitment to the principle that education is a path to success.
