Ms. Shirley Hazelton

Shirley Hazelton was a lifetime resident of Gloucester County. After attending elementary school in Mullica Hill, she graduated from Clearview Regional High School in 1965. She then attended Culver-Stockton College, in Canton Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1969. Throughout her career, Shirley worked in the business office at Gloucester County College. Shirley worked closely with the GCC Foundation coordinating scholarship funds for students along with other duties and responsibilities. After more than 25 years of dedicated service, Shirley retired from Gloucester County College in 2004. Shirley was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, in Mullica Hill New Jersey, where she sang as an alto in the choir. One of Shirley’s passions was music evidenced by her involvement with the Gloucester County College and Community Chorus. Shirley join the Community Chorus in 1982 was an officer in the organization, and influential in organizing the Community Chorus. In addition to singing and music, Shirley loved traveling throughout the world, looking at flowers and enjoying a good meal with family and friends. Shirley also enjoyed playing the piano, and was an accomplished piano player. Support for education was also paramount for Shirley, especially for those who wished to achieve a degree in Music or Music related fields. Toward that end, Shirley bequeathed $50,000 to the Gloucester County College Foundation to establish scholarships for students obtaining a degree in Music.
